Imlil and Aroumd in the High Atlas :

The different faces of Aroumd :

We stayed in the fascinating Kasbah du Toubkal in Imlil which is in itself worth the visit : a building (or rather collection of buildings) with a story closely connected to the villagers of Imlil, and where you'll find smiling faces and good food.

Some of our walks were half-day, leaving around 7.30 and getting back for a late lunch and our last day's walk was a rewarding full day event.

On the way to Sidi Chamarouch :

And then back to the Kasbah for lunch on the roof terrace :

Mzik and, in the distance, Tizi 'n Tamatert

The following day's walk was to the Tizi (pass) Mziki at 2664 metres with spectacular views to the village of Mzik, and to the other side of the valley to Tizi 'n Tamatert.

At the pass, we met a trekking group with their mules and drivers coming towards Imlil.

Our last day's walk took us up and over the Tizi 'n Tamatert at 2279m, where we found a welcome teashop, and then down into the Tamegguist Valley for another mint tea and, a little further on, a picnic stop by the river before confronting another pass and coming back to Imlil by the road.

This trip was organised by Explore and our guide, Mohamed, was fantastic. We were there in May 2007.
